A Fun New Chapter for The Bookshelf Writers

Every writer is well-served by having some helpful peeps. Mine are the Bookshelf Writers—my critique group of five years. Kind, supportive, honest and steadfast. As important and necessary to my writing as my laptop, Microsoft Word, and a good thesaurus.

In March, the four of us started a column called ‘Out and About’ in the Estero Bay News—a lovely 4-color newspaper that publishes alternate weeks and covers the news and happenings around Estero Bay. We take turns writing articles on all manner of things.

The March 11th issue featured my blog post titled “What Ever Happened to the Cayucos Cemetery Cat?”

The month of May found the world still struggling to find a pathway out of the pandemic. And we were all sick of hearing about COVID. We needed something hopeful. So, for the May 6th issue, I hoped readers would be uplifted by this previous blog post: “And This Too Shall Pass, But Can Some Things Please Stay?”

In the July 1st issue, I featured the Happy Little Holiday House—a little gem of happiness in our Cayucos neighborhood. “What Sprang Up In Our Neighborhood?”
